The Evil Tongue

Proverbs 25:18 says that a man who bears false witness against his neighbor is like a club, a sword, and a sharp arrow, meaning that his words pierce, wound, or chop to pieces. I believe this is why many people are sick and suffer from diseases or pain with no remedy. They have come under the attack of another person's tongue. People suffer headaches and depression or become violently ill because of a demonic influence that has been exerted against them. In actuality, someone has perpetrated vicious thoughts against them.

We should pay close attention to Proverbs 25, which is almost a complete chapter on healing. This chapter also explains the sicknesses and distress suffered by people who come under the vicious attack of other people's tongues.

Proverbs 12:18 says, "There is one who speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health." Some people use their tongues like a word that pierces innocent people. If someone has bitterness in his heart and out of that bitterness and resentment he reviles another person, those words have power. They can bind or release, heal or cause sickness.

How many people are sick because of the onslaught that comes from a tongue set on fire as we discussed previously? Demonically inspired, this tongue will bring about the downfall of another and cause them to suffer. The mystery of this is that the sufferer doesn't know why they are sick.

They go to the doctor and take prescribed medicines, but they get no better. An attack comes upon them at unusual times and spoils their day. Why? They are facing an arrow sent by an antagonist.

David laments in Psalm 57:4: "My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword." Many other verses also say something similar. I am convinced that many people suffer because of the gnashing of teeth. People stab and club us with their words, thoughts, and curses. When we come under such an attack, we need to know how to war against this attack and bind the power in order to release ourselves from the hatred and bitterness of others.

At the conclusion of a meeting in a town in Victoria, Australia, as we were saying good-bye to the leaders on the platform, the pastor's wife said, "Is it too late for me to have prayer? I haven't been able to come to any of the meetings because I have been continually sick. Would you please pray for me?"

We laid hands on her and suddenly the Lord said, "She has a spear sticking out of her back." I thought that was unusual so I looked behind at her back, but I couldn't see a spear. I asked the Lord to show it to me. Then in the spirit, I saw a spear sticking out of her back just level with her hip bones.
